Lorry bother near Barr
A lorry on its way from Patna to Stranraer nearly came off the B734 Barr Road this week on a sharp, steep downhill bend.
Just one more foot and it would have plunged straight down the hillside in the terrifying incident on Monday.
The driver propped the wheels with bricks and awaited rescue as the lorry blocked the road for the entire afternoon, causing severe disruption to traffic to and from Barr and a serious nuisance to people living nearby.
To make matters worse, there were no signs on the B734 to alert road-users turning off the A714 that the Barr Road was impassable. Locals say this is a frequent occurrence and are fed up that the council is doing nothing to improve the road, or block it to heavy traffic.
The lorry driver said there were no signs warning of the potential dangers and that the condition of the road was the cause of the accident.
